Chapter 1: The Calling

1880

The libratory of John H. Sieferlend was filled with sealed glass containers of animal hearts and organs. Dr. Sieferlend had sighed with great relief that his new invention code name Rebirth was finally finished. The heavily bolted door creaked open as Dr. Sieferlend twin 30-year-old sons came in. They both gave him a hug, one was tall and muscular, with blond hair, blue eyes, also wearing a fur coat, and his name is Sirus Sieferlend. Also Odis has black hair, aqua eyes, and wearing a long black leather coat.

“My sons welcome to La Chateau Rouge.”, John says to them and walks to his new invention he finished that week as his two sons follow. Odis puts his hand on the machine and puts his finger in the creases of the symbols. A puzzled expression on his faces and takes his hand of. John immediately says, “Rebirth is made out of a fallen meteorite.” Their father says looking attentively at the machine.
“This must of cost a fortune to buy father, how on Earth did you get it?” Odis asked even more confused than before. Their father proceeds up the spiral staircase and walks through a two-door entrance to his office. John opened the maroon oak door to a large oval room, directly forward of the entrance of a large window with a perfect view of the Ifal tower.

They all sit down on wooden chairs by his oak desk they both look at him as he coughs into a handkerchief. “They’re something. I have to tell you. There’s good news and there’s bad news.”, Their Father says putting the handkerchief back in his pocket. “The good news is that the church is willing to let you, Sirus, back into the white paladins.”, Their Father says very relived. “The bad news is that, I’m dying. I have heart cancer.”, Sirus and Odis look awestruck they practically collapse in their wooden chairs.

“Calm down Sirus!”, John yells at him but Sirus picks up the chair and throws it at the wall shatter on impact. “We don’t see you for ten years then you send us a note saying to come to Paris out of the blue to tell us your going to die!”, Sirus yells and falls to his knees breathing very heavily. “Why did you come into my life? It was getting better then you come back… aaaaggggghhhh!” Sirus yell’s. Sirus mumbles something under his breath and a tear trickles down his cheek. John try’s to help him up but Sirus just push’s him away then he whips his face then gets fully up.
He look’s into his father’s eye’s he looked back into Sirius’s red eyes, Sirus blinks they turn back to blue. Sirus storm’s out of the libratory in a heart infested rage breaking the glass containers with animal hearts. John begins to go after him but Odis stop’s him, “What are you doing!” Taking Odis’s arm off him.
“You don’t know what happened to Sirus do you?”, Odis asks getting his father to sit down a chair, and Odis sighs.
“Let me explain it was…
Friday. October, 30/1791
Devil’s Night
“It was a quiet night in Mildian no one knows how the fire started it burnt through the whole city right to the ground. I was at his house staying for the night when it all happened. I awoke to the screams and blazing fires, I found Sirus unconscious on the floor but his wife died same with the baby in her womb. I thru Sirus over my shoulder, I headed towards the staircase but it collapsed.
“I jumped out the window and got to safety there no other survivors from the flames…It’s been hard to cope with especially for Sirus.” Odis finishes the grim story as his father tries to say something but the words wouldn’t come out.
“Sirus will be fine don’t worry he’s probably just taking a walk.”, Odis say’s reassuringly Odis stands up and begins to leave then says, “See you later”, Odis tells his father then leaves the libratory, closing the door behind him.
“John they are gone…”, a strange demonic voice says and the room gets darker till darkness consumes the room.

It’s windy up here Sirus thought to himself he felt a chill up his spine, as if someone was watching him, he immediately thought it was Odis. “What do want Odis?” Sirus asked turning around to see a man with maroon colored hair, wearing a black suit with pink stripes, and a black hat covering his eyes.
“Who….”, but the man interrupts Sirus before he could finish.
“Who am I? My name is Reme LeBleu, I must leave.” Reme tips his hat and bows before leaving then jumps over the railing without hesitation.
Odis comes up the ladder Sirus helps up the ladder, “What’s wrong Sirus it looks like you saw a ghost?” Odis asks curiously then begins to pant from climbing up the ladder.
“It’s nothing to worry about let’s just get back to father’s laboratory okay Odis?” Sirus asks not really caring what the answer would be.
“Ok lets get back then.”, says agreeable then goes back on the ladder Sirus follows about half way down the wind begins to pick up which makes it hard to hold on but they make it down safely.
They begin to walk back to the la château rouge but Sirus sees out of the corner of his eye Reme smoking but Odis diverts Sirus, “You sure your ok Sirus?”
“Ya I’m fine.” Sirus looks back but no one in plain sight just the Ifal tower in front of the full moon, with wolves howling in the night.
“I didn’t know there’s wolves in Paris?” Odis asked stunned to here the howls.
“There aren’t supposed to be, I think it would be best if we went straight to father’s laboratory.”, Sirus says wondering who Reme Le Bleu is. How he survived that fall and why there are wolves in Paris. Also how didn’t Odis see him fall Sirus decides to not tell Odis so he doesn’t get the wrong impression that he’s crazy or something.
They begin to walk in the Parisian ghetto because it’s the fastest way to Le Château Rouge. In there they saw many homeless people sick and coughing. Sirus looked at a dog on the sidewalk it just stared back at him, after they were a block away Sirus realized it was a wolf. He looked behind him but the wolf wasn’t even following him. Not a person was in sight. Sirus turns around to his surprise they were back at Le Château Rouge. Odis opened the bolted door they both walked in then Odis yelled, “Father.” No answer just the echo of his own voice eradicating into the night.
